I really like Beau is Afraid, and Hereditary.
Honestly ive watched beau is afraid like 4 times. 2 times wth other people. I just like it alot. I guess the best way to describe it is a absurdist horror comedy where the worst thing happens. Its just fun to watch. and then theres also the inner plot and ideas that are really interesting.
Its begins with Beau's birth, ending with him entering a similar cave on a lke to his death. he is was always judged guilty from the very start. he is a mouse in a maze. his horrible city is made by his mom. he will always be her baby. lol when the guy falls on him in the bath. or 'its three things' its just has so many Moments. its fun. i can relate to feeling like a mouse in maze, or just a pathetic person
Hereditary is also fun. Not as many Moments, the car crash and and god that scene where the mom is hitting her head. i thought they were being chased by the naked guy and just wow. Its the psychotic horrible unfurling of this family through outside force. buts its inside, deep inside. hail paimon!
I also saw the Beau short. Its rougher. But its diffrent. Beau isnt such a pathetic guy. He tries to fight back. But he is equally tortured, a night light and a pile a pills, laying in a bed tormented by the noises of shouting, a paranoid trap rigged against a stolen door. Its fun. The cinematgoraphy in all of these are good.
Ive been watching American psycho for a couple days now.
Honestly it isn't really my thing, I haven't gotten into it enough to just watch instead just watching it every now again for a few minutes. Im more into the movie now becaus im less watching it to watch it and more wacthing it to think about it.
44 minutes in. It's funny because of utterly unerotic this is, and how that reflects on how word Patrick Bateman is He’s doing this fantasy, hypermasculine bachelor, chivalrous and showboating aristocrat. Dominating his woman who serve him. I can imagine that being someone's top fantasy. Not to be like a feminist but that really just doesn't speak to me. My fantasy's and pushes are much different. But also I think this is someone intentional, Patrick Bateman himself it so robotic and the women just follow his lead but there are moments where you can see them think, pushing back and the construction.
This is probably the obvious consensus, but i havent really heard thoughts on this movie despite how famous it is. I think this movie is a deconstruction and parody of american rich white masculinity through the lens of “what if one of these guys was an insane serial killer” it's kind of a comedy.
The movie makes alot of sense that way. All the women look the same, blond and very traditionally pretty, even the hookers. A bunch of business men in a club bathroom lined up to do cocaine in the stalls. Him being freaked out by a gay guy coming onto him. Them treating buisness cards with slight variations as the most important thing in the world. Him watching lesbian sex and explaining a song. All gags.
Also hes just a weirrrd fucking guy.
Everythings going crazy, it turned into a slasher movie hes chasing her around a hotel labryinth with naked covered in blood with a chainsaw. Theres bodies everywhere Yet theres still a floaty quality to it, there hasnt been any consequences, he hasn't gotten caught despite the insane amount of murders he's done This is the point where i would make my conclution but i already did. This is comedy of the upperclass through this insane guy.
